Freya Ridings was the surprise international success story of 2018/19.  The North Londoner who caught lightning in a bottle with her song ‘Lost Without You’, then chased her #3, Gold-certified and BRIT-nominated debut album’s subsequent success around the world with over 1 billion streams and 47 Gold and Platinum Global certifications. She had the honour of being the first female artist to 100% write and perform a top 10 hit since Kate Bush’s recharted ‘Running Up That Hill’ in 2012 and was No.1 artist in the UK Independent Singles Chart in 2018.

Her self-titled debut album featured hits ‘Castles’, ‘Lost Without You’ and ‘You Mean The World To Me’. The singles received support from Radio 1 Tune of the Week and playlist rotation placement at Radio 2, Capital FM and were propelled into the Top 40 of the Official Charts. Freya Ridings’ first single of 2023, ‘Weekends’ , proved to be one of her biggest hits to date as it earned a flurry of airplay support (including Tune of the Week at Radio 1 and playlisting at Radio 2) propelling the track into the Top 40 of the Official Charts. Subsequent tracks ‘Face In The Crowd’ , ‘Can I Jump?’ and ‘Perfect’ continued to win new fans and reconnect with existing ones, and her profile was further boosted by playing Glastonbury, The Coronation Concert, and her own autumn headline tour which concluded with a 5000-capacity show at London’s Eventim Apollo, accompanied by a full live album release, ‘Blood Orange Live at (the??) Apollo’.

One listen to Freya’s second album ‘Blood Orange’ reveals just how much Freya is willing to open her heart as she crafted its fourteen songs. It’s effectively an album of two halves: 18 months of Freya lost in the depths of heartbreak and loneliness, and then another 18 months in which she emerges happier than ever before. The moods are both bitter and sweet, the songs spanning from reflective and intimate to joyous and inclusive, and the transition that she goes through casts a powerfully uplifting spell upon the listener.  

In 2024, Freya has been writing for her hotly anticipated third album, already connecting with fans by sharing snippets online and stirring excitement worldwide. She has also written a track for the hugely popular Netflix TV show ‘Arcane’ with a track that has amassed over 16 million streams and counting in its first few weeks of release. 2025 is set to be a hugely exciting time for Freya Ridings and her fans, kicking off with upcoming album three that promises to be Freya’s most personal and compelling work to date — a regal, devastating, and ultimately transformative masterpiece.
